The torso, seen here, is highly complex. It has a technic struction that runs through the back and front, and the arms and legs are deeply affixed in the body. There are more than a dozen friction-adding gears in each hip alone, enough to allow the legs to move with enough friction to stay up. There are linkages in the hips as well. Personally, I feel that the greebling on the front chest plate, which is cleverly angled in several dimensions to fit together with technic panels, is some of the best on the entire model.
